Biography

Following on from the critical acclaim both Drowned in Sound and This Is Fake DIY showed towards their limited edition 7" vinyl release with fellow Leeds indie popsters Just Handshakes (We're British), Yonderboy announce their eagerly anticipated second release All Bob Minor/Too Easy which will be available from the 30th April 2011.

Having recently celebrated their third year as a band and now augmented as a 5-piece, All Bob Minor/Too Easy showcases Yonderboy's newly honed sound and subtle, eclectic influences ranging from Talking Heads and The Smiths to Steve Reich. Recorded with producer Andy Hawkins at Cottage Road Studios, sometime home to Leeds natives Pulled Apart By Horses and The Pigeon Detectives (not to mention Lou Bega's mixing desk!), it is Yonderboy's long-awaited debut in a professional recording studio.

Falsetto vocals, clean guitars and an upbeat rhythm section bring to life All Bob Minor's tale of breaking, entering and wrongdoing in a church. The track's narrative is further enhanced with a horn section singing the Westminster chimes. Too Easy's delicately intertwined guitars and rumbling bass gradually build to a towering crescendo as the protagonist slowly drifts out to sea.

Rising stars in their adopted city of Leeds, Yonderboy have been hand picked by both Frightened Rabbit and The Antlers to support them on recent UK dates. With a release that coincides with a prominent appearance for the third year running at Live at Leeds festival, their record will be further promoted with a series of gigs throughout the summer including an appearance at Deer Shed Festival in North Yorkshire and several more dates across the country.

"…the template for their indelible indie-pop is taken from the likes of The Smiths and The Wedding Present"
The Fly

"Their wonky indie pop is overflowing with enthusiasm that connects intimately to their tightly-woven, slightly erratic motifs. They are accessible, but they’re smart about it, like an In Rainbows-era Radiohead"
Forge Press

"…a curious mixture of gentle 80’s jingling pop that’s been toughened up with slight elements of Math and just a few gentle hints of post rock – superb stuff"
Manchester Music

“…this outfit's promise becomes undeniable. Their appealing, capricious and quintessentially British indie material is executed with great flair”
Leeds Music Scene
