A few odd ball tracks on here that don't belong but for the most part this is a very great album and one of my favorite albums from the 90's.

They experiment with so much stuff and add so many different flavors to their sound but they do it in a way that makes sense and the whole album feels cohesive despite having elements of pop rock and slowcore and surf rock and even bossa nova in a track or two. Indie rock has never been a big source of inspiration for me when I'm practicing my songwriting but if I was to be in an indie band, this is probably pretty close to what I would've made, before finding out someone already did and better than I ever could.

Every time I listen to this I regret not getting into Yo La Tengo earlier. Then I realise I'm listening to THIS and just think about how awesome it is.

w/o a doubt one of the greatest albums I've heard. It is difficult to associate a particular mood with this one. So I'd say that when I'm in in no particular mood (random stuff running in my mind, which does happen quite often) there have been times (damage does it for me) when I've questioned if this is the best album ever. Each (that) time the answer comes - YES.
