The version from 1976 immortalized on the 2nd side of their 2nd live album, is a real personal favorite as it was the first Yes music I ever listened to. Apart from what I knew on the radio, the longest song you’d hear was Starship Trooper. I’d already fully embraced Pink Floyd's music by then so had a taste for progressive rock. This sticks out even more then “Close to The Edge”, but below the band’s next album and especially the track “Awaken”, But not by much.

Really any version of this song not done by the current lineup is a masterpiece

My first concert was the 2000 Masterworks tour, with Igor Khoroshev. I appreciate that I got to see the band as a five-piece, though regret not seeing the Magnification tour where they did it with an orchestra.

If I was to put together a top 5 of all-time Yes songs, this would definitely be on it. An incredible piece of music!

One of the greatest prog tracks ever. All of these guys are stellar here, but Steve Howe's guitar just takes it new heights.

Man, as much as I loved the original and the Yesshows versions of this song, the Symphonic Live version is on another plane entirely. Holy shit. The orchestra adds so much to this song.

Runs neck and neck with "Close to the Edge" for the title of ultimate Yes track, IMO. I'm actually even tempted to give this one the slight advantage since it so brilliantly depicts the prelude to and events and aftermath of a battle. You'd have to dig into the realms of Baroque/Classical/Romantic music to find another piece of music that so vividly portrays action.

Пожалуй, это самая потрясающая композиция композиция Yes. То что начинается с 13:43 не передать словами.

This version lacks all the intensity of the original Reiayer version. The original is one of the greatest Prog tracks ever.

My pop-loving ways want me to say/think otherwise, but this is the greatest song ever recorded, sorry "Close to the Edge".
