Most of Wodensthrone is back. Singer left though. Big sad. https://bindrunerecordings.bandcamp.com/album/nemorous-2

Woah I had to check MA to see if these guys were active, but they apparently split up in 2016. Im late to the boat.

I think half the reason I'm disappointed they split up is that it means they can't follow up Loss and Curse with Reverence. (I don't know for sure that this was their intention, but... come on. I'm not sure I'd want to live on a planet where it *wasn't* their intention.) People are always comparing their two albums to each other, but I can't rank them. To me they're just both absolutely perfect atmospheric black metal. Like... you never find a better atmosphere than this band managed. They have some obvious influences (Emperor, Negură Bunget, etc.), but while those bands are all superb, somehow, whenever I listen to Wodensthrone, their music seems to transcend all its earthly origins and transport me into another time, another place, even another dimension. Not too many bands ever manage that. A truly magnificent band. I don't think I'll ever stop missing them.

...Also, I think they're among a handful of acts that can make me feel better no matter what kind of shitty mood I'm in. For reasons I won't get into, I was beside myself with rage earlier. After listening to Loss and a bit of Curse, I at least can breathe more easily. It almost feels like things are going to be OK.

I think Curse just has the edge on Loss. I haven't really explored it until now, but musically it's much more interesting.

To be fair I've certainly espoused that sort of thing in the interviews since I joined, and I have explicitly deployed my anti-racist agenda within my contributions to the music with no opposition from any of the other members at any point. I guess it depends how much you want to split hairs about differentiating personal views I express when speaking on behalf of the band (with the band's endorsement) and "the views of the band" which is always going to be a more difficult concept to nail down.

People say Curse is good, but for me, 'Loss' is a true marvel. It's an album I can listen to full on through without stopping. Curse is a great album, but some songs drag on at times, while 'Loss' was able to keep everything bombastic.

Everything they've released so far is ace. The split with Niroth, the 'Over Binding of the Waves" split and both full lengths are absolutely phenomenal. A very consistent band indeed.

Love their music and what they represent in both traditional (pagan) and modern (liberal) way.

"so they ARE political. I guess dragonbottles likes this band because they are GLBT friendly." To be against racism and discrimination doesn't have to be political. Simply showing compassion and consideration for all life as life itself. I don't need some political affiliation to feel that way.

"What I meant by that is that they have no strong political ties and won't discriminate against any of their fans. But yeah, in all honesty, that's a nice thing for me." Varg Vikernes doesn't discriminate against any of his fans, or has strong ties to any political group. Either way, I just hope they support British nationalism and stand against multicultural garbage.

don't like a lot of the "related artists" but Curse is one of the best black metal albums of the past few years. apppreeeessh

Can't even go anywhere on the net without someone sparking up a gay marriage debate. If you're against gay marriage as a male then it's obvious that you think dicks are secretly delicious.

"Wodensthrone are non-political and AND AGAINST RACISM, DISCRIMINATION" so they ARE political. I guess dragonbottles likes this band because they are GLBT friendly. [2]

Great band, incredibly melancholy atmosphere, and they're not afraid to have a soft, classy solo in there either.

Black metal really doesn't get much better than this these days. I need to remember to listen to these guys more often.
