Still no news even though they said they had recorded most of the guitars in 2018

Their classical sections are really nice, their guitar solos are painfully cliche and boring.

This band is one of those that deserve their albums to be bought. Such a great band.

It's hard to believe that Hellhammer joined such a band in the first place, but the results were exceptional. Winds FTW!!

I don't really like the vocalist either. Why is it that immensely talented prog bands always sully themselves with boring-ass vocalists?? I mean he's not bad but its just a droning counterpoint to the great music.

If you mean what I think you mean about the idea repetition of the lyrics - if you think about it, I believe that's the point, actually. The theme is the same for all the songs on each album. That's what makes them concept albums, after all. Entity is about birth, coming into existence. Reflections is about self-reflection. Imaginary is about time, the passing of time, and timelessness. Prominence is about the patterns of repetition in the universe and how everything rises and then falls, lives then dies. Also all the albums have a chronology where it goes from beginning to end in a sequence of events, not just bits and pieces. Everything is connected. At least that's my take on it.

"All of life is a dispute over taste and tasting." Nietzsche. Adding this one to the last one, you have it, everything liked by the masses = shit, or else is because they don't understand it, like what happens with Marilyn Manson :D

"The hard truth is that what may be acceptable in elite culture may not be acceptable in mass culture, that tastes which pose only innocent ethical issues as the property of a minority become corrupting when they become more established. Taste is context, and the context has changed." Susan Sontag

"MarchIntoTheSea escreveu: setembro 2009 Reflections Of The I is by far their best album. The Imaginary Direction of Time is just so.....heartless. Its way too academic without any real soul in it IMO. " WTH? It is awesome, I can't stop playing it.

sublime, soothing compositions with monstrously talented neo-classical axe-slingin'. great late nite metal. i often put this on just before going to sleep: why shouldn't my subconscious listen to the very best also?!

Yes we do agree on that. I just think the later albums show a more mature band in a way, and for me the later stuff stays consistently good while the earlier stuff I think is good no doubt but sometimes doesn't stay as consistent. For example some of those short instrumental tracks don't do a lot for me, sure it's nice but I like complete songs, and I like longer songs. But I have to agree with the band themselves that the earlier performances are more sloppy and less focused, which according to them was due to less time in the studio. But I do like Reflections of the I too and I play it once in a while, just not as often. At first I thought the new record wasn't better than Imaginary Direction of Time, but now I do. It's just different, but probably my favorite if I had to pick. Either way, it's all good. Can't wait to hear what they do next.

I will agree that it may not be as mature content wise and conceptually but it does have more variety and emotion instrumentally as well as in the vocal work. Imaginary Direction of Time is not heartless lyrically but the vocals just don't have any conviction or strength emotionally. Oh well, in the end we both agree Winds is good so thats all that matters. It is kind of interesting to see our completely opposing experiences of their music.

I actually think it's their weakest - the performances are just a hair less steady and self-confident on that album while the songs also a less mature than on the two later albums. I guess this goes to show my point below even more... people have different tastes. I guess that's good too, cause if everyone liked the same album the best, it would make for a boring debate. PS: I can't believe you called The Imginary Direction of Time heartless... wow... I think it's their most personal and intimate album, and it definitely has a lot of soul and feeling to it. It's their least heavy album as well probably, and some of those acoustic parts are just bursting of emotions! So I don't get your comment at all there. I guess people just perceive things different.
