seriously though that part might be the greatest example of tension and release in recorded music

Finally listened to this album in full and yeah this is my fave track. It's harrowingly beautiful.

"The final part of this song is probably the peak of Wilco's career." It's more like the peak of music, period.

This should have closed the album. Reservations is a good song, but it just felt tacked on after this.

serves its place as one of the most awesome penultimate tracks ever. no, not a closer.

The sounds of the smashed piano and feedback on the Kicking Television are just... riveting.

so many great moments in this song. the way the piano slowly rises to the forefront of the mix at 0:55, that huge release of tension at like 1:46, that sweet understated melody at 2:03. the transition that takes place at 2:45. and of course the descent into chaos at the very end. fucking masterpiece of a tune, this one.

The part with the slide guitar is great. Also, this is too dark and intense to close YHF.

they should definitely NOT have ended it with this song. if reservations had never been written, maybe.
