"Last Christmas" is a song by Wham!, a British pop duo. George Michael had both written and produced the song which had been released on CBS Records on the 3rd of December, 1984 and was also released with "Everything She Wants" in the UK by Epic Records as a double A-side. Last Christmas was kept off number one by the song, "Do They Know It's Christmas?" by Band Aid, which George Michael had also made a contribution on. Last Christmas had spent five consecutive weeks on number two in the UK Singles Chart, and for 36 years with over 2 million copies sold, had been the best-selling UK Single ever to not hit number one. Yet in 2017 it had reached number two once again after fans of George Michael had made an attempt to make it hit number one as a tribute after his death on the 25th of December, 2016. Although after 36 years, in the first week of 2021, Last Christmas had managed to make it to number one.
