Like the Title Music from A Clockwork Orange, Beethoviana, also known as the Theme from A Clockwork Orange is based on the melody and chord progressions from Henry Purcell's Music for the Funeral of Queen Mary.
Composer: Wendy Carlos and Rachel Elkind, Tempi Music BMI
Two versions of Beethoviana were published with subtly different instrumentation and tone. The "official" version, the one included in the soundtrack album for the film Clockwork Orange, has a brighter instrumentation.
In the other version (the one you can hear in the player at right), the melodic background line is done by an oboe, so it feels more melancholic. This version was published as part of a film music compilation titled Aquí Cine Vol.2 by CBS Argentina in vynil (19253), cassette (59253) and magazine (89253).
