Music that has been underrated since its release; the frequent fate of soundtracks a few decades ago. The film was also underrated: it was too effective in trapping audiences in 1980s LA. The first film in my opinion to show this during a protracted, mass moral crisis in the cty after 1969. Friedkin's support of the music in process was creditied as significant and also as a unique event in film production of that time.. I'm a crusader for this film. Try this: screen 'Chinatown,' a Sidney Lumet (NYC-themed) film, and Antonioni's 'Blowup '. Take a walk, have a drink, or just take a nap, Then screen 'To Live and Die in LA. ' To Live and Die in LA' will take you hostage with its brave beauty that refuses to provide a sngle moment of comfortable distance for its audience. It probably will release your riveted mind if/when you make your peace with its terrifying humanity.
