"Walpurgisnacht" is the second full length album from Greek occult black/death metal band Varathron. It was released in 1995 via Unisound records.
The album is largely a departure from the more primitive sound of their debut "His majesty at the swamp" by featuring melodic and distinct symphonic stylings incorporating elements of doom metal and gothic rock (i.e. "The Dark Hills") although it still retains hints of the band's death metal roots.
Walpurgisnacht, or "Walpurgis night", stretches between the 30th of April and the 1st of May. In Europe and other Western societies it is traditionally associated with great revels among witches, warlocks and the spirits of the dead.
