Жаль что всё ограничилось одним альбомом, звучат не хуже титанов шведской волны дэта начала 90-х

Listening to this band for the first time in many years and I must say, it sure sounds better than I remember. A lot more going on here than most run-of-the-mill Swedish death metal, but I still feel it suffers from what put me off the first time - some transitions make it feel disjoint. But I'm used to that at this point through a lot of other music, so I enjoyed it a lot more this time around.

One of the best, if not the best, of the lesser-known Swedish death metal bands that had an unfortunately short lifespan. Across the Horizon is a legitimate classic.

Really like this band. Their sound is very, very similar to Desultory's "Into Eternity".

Better than most all of the "other" Swede death bands form the early 90's. In fact Utumno rate up there for me with Entombed/Nihilist, Carnage/Dismember, and Grave.

The reason this was reissued is because the original MCD (which I own, because I am awesome) used to fetch up to $400 on eBay around 2005-2006.

I can't understand why this had to be re-issued. I've heard this a thousand times before and I'll hear it a numerous times later. There's nothing special in Utumno, to be honest. The only purpose for re-issuing that I can think of is that Utumno must have had a massive influence on the other bands in the early 90's. If that's not how it was, then this is completely useless stuff. Highly overrated.

Could you show me where I was questioning their originality? Saying that they sound like a billion other bands isn't questioning their originality, it's just stating that there are numerous bands that sound exactly the same. Sure, there are a million bands that try to copy what Dark Tranquillity has done but they were among the first ones to do that kind of music.

Oh, now I see. You think you are the judge to say who gets to question one's creativity because you only listen to some underground garbage so that you could be tr00 and kvlt among your friends? Have some lotion for your butthurt. Also please learn to comprehend what you read before whining like a baby.

Such an incredible band. Melodic, technical and passionately ambivalent in all the right ways and beautifully dynamic in its approach. Masterpiece. Shame that they didn't release more, but then again Across the Horizon seems to never grow tiring.

It reminds me of that one Kull story where Kull and his troops decide to follow the count of wherever-the-fuck across the river Styx into the land of the sunrise whence no man has returned. Robert E. Howard never finished the story, so it ends with them getting on to the boats.

If it was being put out on CD, I'd grab it, but I'm not really into vinyl so much.

The Crypt (http://www.darksymphonies.com/thecrypt/utumno.html) has for sale an outstanding numbered LP pressing of Across the Horizon with the Light of Day demo-ep included as bonus tracks. Any fan of this excellent band should SERIOUSLY consider purchasing this before it's gone forever.

If anyone has a rip of the 1st demo called "Morkets Rike" by the Norwegian Utumno, please, please send me a message. Been looking for it for a long time.
