According to the Confessions Part II Songfacts, there were rumors that the Confessions album was mainly about Usher's break-up with Rozonda 'Chilli' Thomas from TLC, and that in this song Usher was confessing that his infidelity was the cause of their relationship ending. However Usher has denied this and has said that this song was inspired by friends' similar experiences.
