I’ve been writing about an album every day for my new, 365-day music project, “One Record Per Day.” The other day I did “United Nations” – check it out here: http://onerecordperday.wordpress.com/2013/01/09/day-9-345-united-nations-united-nations/ Figured you guys may appreciate it. Thanks!

@ExcessiveClap Atleast with most labels, there has ALWAYS been issues with allowing 'their' artists to perform on a different label. See the Prince debacle. See Buckethead releasing stuff under anagram Death Cube K. This also applies to guys in bands that are on certain labels that basically want to make as much money using them as possible; hence if it isn't lucrative to them, they don't want them to be apart of it (or atleast without getting their cut). It's a shitty system but it's commonplace. With the rise of artists cutting out the record label middlemen, this may change, but for now a good chunk of artists on a lot of major/minor labels need to get signed permission to appear on someone else's album.

I wonder how "the Beatles didn't approve it", you know... with them being half-dead and all. Also... I'm pretty sure Paul McCartney has actually no idea this exists. ALSO... if he did, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't give a shit. Of course I don't know him like you apparently do, so what do I know, right? Also I think it's funny to mock the copyright policy of someone else when these guys were stupid enough to get mixed up in contracts that don't allow them to put their names on the music they put out. Seriously, doesn't anyone find that embarrassing?

the album cover was controversial because The Beatles didn't approve it...they don't fucking understand that art and satire ARE protected by law but when you're Paul fucking McCartney and have enough money you can go around that and be a DOUCHE NOZZLE
