I have a love/hate relationship with this album with a lot more love than hate. My gripe is just that it spawned things which I think were detrimental to the spirit of black metal (cringe, I know), particularly causing a certain "black metal lite" revolution in the US - a gateway for a lot of hipsters who don't really care for the genra but just like it cause of its 'accessibility'. Again, mind you, this was strictly a gateway for musicians, not for the masses. Still I do love and worship a lot of bands in that category - Agalloch, Nachtmystium - being two prime examples, but I think it also led to whack like Deafheaven and WITTR (i just don't see the appeal here but at least they're more listenable than the former). I guess you could also call like this the SotS for folky atmospheric black metal Anyway, this is a GOAT indeed no questions. Alas, disregard my schizo ramblings.

@Hobbesoxon: "I Troldskog faren vild" is old Norwegian/Danish, and means something alike to "Went astray in Troll Forest" or "Being lost in the Troll Forest" or "Outside the path inside the Troll Forest". It's a common theme in Norwegian folklore and fairytales, and refers directly to the title of the album "Bergtatt", which is to be consumed by the nasty creatures and spirits of the mountains and forests.

Please correct this song name to the proper Danish/Norwegian; "I Troldskog faren vild".

I Troldskog Faren Vild? I don't speak hip-hop, but surely troldskog is one of the most fine words in any language. I think I'll name my next dog Troldskog.
