Four years later Stare Into Death And Be Still is still my favorite album of this decade so I'm beyond stoked for the new one! After all they've never disappointed, why would they start now?

Gorguts definitely influenced them but Colored Sands is more Ulceratecore than any Ulcerate album being Gorgutscore

Damn son. Ulcerate is phenomenal live. It has been a year of great concerts, however I think that one took the cake. Altars is also amazing live, as they're headlining the 23 tour with them. After seeing them live and watching Jamie on drums, I can honestly say he is now one of my favorite drummers. Hot damn is he good!

Top of the top 5. I struggle to think of a NZ Metal band at the level of Ulcerate. I'm not being a fanboi I just can't think of one. There are some incredible bands from here but Ulcerate are just too good.

I've not heard of Meth Drinker. I know Methchrist, saw them with Mayhem in Feb but Meth Drinker are a new one on me.

I'm going to explain what I meant by this analogy: it FUCKING OBVIOUSLY is not about the sounding of both bands, it is about how they approach composition: with complex yet fluid, layered and clear sound, with great post-production engineering that allows for all instruments and vocals to be heard, and become part of a whole.

I really like this band, people say their the death metal DsO, and while their not quite as good, I can honestly see the comparison.

They're not just technical death metal, or dissonant death metal. Throughout the years they have managed to conceive an unparalled stryle of their own. And I can feel that their sound dynamics becamo more melancholic and sorrowful as the years pass by. Not that earlier albums didn't have their share of a more sad, melancholic approach (take Failure from OFaF), but for the most the feelings expressed in the music were more akin to an enormous overflow of anger, rage, hate, ferocious as it can be on Soulessness Embraced and Everything is Fire. But as for the new releases, they have settled with a vibe and atmosphere that is mostly anguished and despaired. Visceral Ends just prove that incredible formula. Nevertheless, as pointed out before, any effort towards describing the sensation and experience of listening to such music if futile, for it's truly beyond words.

You’re probably best off beginning with their most recent, and best, and then working your way through the rest of their discography, starting with Everything is Fire
