When I was little, I thought they were a British band because of the title. (As in "the bloody weekend's already over.") So wrong on so many levels 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️

Love this song, one of their best. That violin throughout is very effective—equal parts weeping and raging—and Bono’s voice is unmatched to this day.

My favorite song of theirs. They definitely had more energy in the 80s, though that's not to say that their later stuff is bad, because it isn't.

200 million people buying their albums are all wrong and you are right - what a way to see the world!

I forgot U2 won their 22 grammys for their luck and timing. Still not sure how they manage to sell so many records and fill stadiums and arenas everywhere they go..must be luck and timing.

yeah i suck at defending bands. what i was getting is that they have a certain style that i think they do really well at, while still be creative, but if you don't like it thats fine, maybe it's just not to your taste

I saw them twice when I was in college and Public Enemy opened for them at one of the shows. It was awesome.

The song's title and harsh critical tone was clearly influenced by [tag]Bloody Sunday[/tag] which occurred on January 30th, 1972: http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/726532/Bloody-Sunday

Agreed I always think of OAP when I hear the song. Also the "Bonos House" episode springs to mind. Bono! Bono! Bono!
