Fantastic U2 album, I think it's the peak of their creativity and experimentalism.

oh god 4 years ago hahaah! Is not my favorite, but it's a fucking great album. My top 5: SOE/SOI, Pop, No Line, Joshua Tree and Zooropa

The Joshua Tree (best album ever!!), Achtung Baby, The Unforgettable Fire/New Years Concert, War... and at the VERY far end SoE, Pop/Zooropa. Have to say with Stay there is one of their greatest songs on this album, love it forever! On the other side with Numb and Lemon these songs are in a hard fight for their most evil song ever! Then Zooropa and The First Time are quite good, but I can't stand the rest of this album at all, no way.

Ah, back when they still experimented. I'd say it's their most atmospheric album: good job on Brian Eno's part. And Pop is a worthy follow-up, dammit!

The point at which this band was on to something special, before they blew it completely, got scared and turned back...the last good U2 record.

one of the most underrated album of all time [7] NOT along with "Pop" ;-) [2] I actually stole this cassette from a retail store. I was 14 and had just watched U2 ZooTV Live from Sidney on TV and I fell in love with Lemon. Took the cassette home, played it over and over again. I actually don't like their newer stull (anything after All That You Can't Leave Behind, for that matter), but I agree, Zooropa is the top of the top. I guess they should trust their guts more often, look how glorious it is when they record songs just for the sake of it.

What came off as a mishmash of influences and AB leftovers, is really a perfect concept album and a great conclusion to the ZooTV era. People act like Radiohead's Kid A was out of left field and ground-breaking, yet this album took a similar bent and did it for a variety of reasons that are present in its themes.

for the longest time i refused to give their 90s stuff a chance... which was plain stupidity on my part. now i think this and achtung baby are their strongest albums.
