Biography

Trouvere are a medieval band that perform regularly at festivals and events throughout the UK, France and occasionally further afield. They perform in period clothes on a wide range of instruments including gittern, bagpipes, lute, recorders, harp, flutes, percussion and trumpets.

The music ranges from very authentic in style and presentation as can be heard on 'Music for a Tudor Feast (2010) and 'Music for a Medieval Feast'(2007) to the gentler, modern arrangements on 'Novela' (2006). Trouvere have also produced two earlier CDs 'Douce Dame Jolie' (2002), 'Por mon corage' (2003).

In early 2010, Trouvere released two new CDs. 'Music for a Tudor Feast' features a wide range of 16th century music on a variety of instruments. 'Reynard the Fox' is a CD compilation of comic tales and authentic music from 13th century France.

Trouvere's latest release 'Music for a Medieval Prince' (2012) concentrates on a French manuscript called the Chansonnier du Roi. This splendid manuscript is filled with songs composed by trouveres and troubadours along with several instrumental dances (quite rare). This CD attempts to recreate the courtly, refined sound of 13th century Western Europe.
