The song is about wanting to leave the little town the girl grew up in with her boyfriend. He's been talking about leaving and she wants him to not leave her behind when he does.
She tells him about all the plans she's made so they'll be able to stay with friends along the way so it won't cost as much. She's got a convertible and she's got it gassed up and ready to go and she just wants them to leave together.
The song was written by Melissa Ethridge,and describes the desire to get out of a tiny town and not be left behind when her boyfriend takes off.
