“goosebumps” is an eerie love song. Travis and Kendrick detail the unique feelings they have for their love interests—especially when she’s not actually there.
Before performing this song live, Travis says he “wrote this song in my bedroom at one of the darkest times in my life.” This, combined with the lyrics in the chorus—specifically such terms as “goosebumps,” “numb,” and “Heimlich”—have led many fans to believe this song may have an underlying theme of prescription drug withdrawal.
The track’s music video was debuted exclusively on Apple Music before being released worldwide on April 3, 2017.
In addition, Travis broke JAY-Z and Kanye West’s record of performing a song the most number of times in a live show (“Niggas in Paris” in France 2012) when he performed “goosebumps” 14 times in a row. Incredibly, he proceeded to break his own record the following week.
