Has by far the most interesting production of any of her albums ever, and contains some of her best songs. Certainly better than anything she's made since.

Seriously underrated in general. For me, Maybe California & 500 Miles should have been kicked out and other tracks could have been executed better, it's mostly the production and the way she sings them that kills them, and don't get me started on that cover! And yes, I do like Not Dying Today, I just wish its production were better.

It troubles me how underrated this album is. Three tracks should have been kicked off (Not Dying Today, 500 Miles, Mary Jane) and the tracklist order should have been more carefully selected, and it would have been flawless. It's still one of my favorites. The title track and Lady in Blue alone are some of her best tracks of all time. Sorry, not sorry.

For the past year this is the Tori album I feel like listening the most. Or at least parts of it. (basically the very good beginning and the excellent ending)

This album is not bad, but there's nothing special about it. One of her weakest albums without a doubt.

Remove Not Dying Today, Maybe California, 500 Miles & Mary Jane and you've got yourself a pretty great album.

In my opinion something in tori's music died in 2004, but "Welcome to sunny Florida" was a beautiful goodbye.

Tori Amos fans will hate me for this and tell me to die but this album is as good as Boys for Pele and Choirgirl Hotel ! not as good as To Venus and Back tho.

Having read loads of critical opinions on this album and knowing the previous unfortunate two, I expected another tedious and overrunning (‘17 songs? way too much to constitute an appealing and cohesive whole’, I thought) piece of Tori’s desperate effort to still be present in the music industry. I’ve just listened to it for the first time and must say – I really don’t get people’s panning this album as, to my mind, it’s the biggest, positive surprise from all of the albums released by this singer. She took on experimentalising again and involved many various instruments. The intricate compositions and lyrics are stellar as well. To everyone who hasn’t listened to it so far – don’t get misled by what other people say/write and judge with your own ears.

A terribly underrated album. However one way to fix this is to cut down the number of tracks on the album to the 'usual' 12. I think an edit of this album works really well. 1.Give, 2. Welcome To England, 3. Strong Black Vine, 4. Flavor, 5. Curtain Call, 6. Fire To Your Plain, 7. That Guy, 8. Abnormally Attracted To Sin, 9.Starling, 10. Fast Horse, 11. Ophelia, 12. Lady In Blue. Leave the other 'silly' songs to B-sides. Or an "AATS Part II" EP. Put it into a play list and behold its awesomness. [2]

I really, really didn't click with this album when it was released. Two years later, I'm really taken with it! How does this happen? Maybe I just wasn't in the right frame of mind when it came out. I take back everything bad I said about it.

"I don't know what is wrong with the album... I personly think it's great, better than The Beekeeper and American Doll Posse"[2]

i don't mind the record being too long. surely her latest releases have been full of hit-and-miss moments, but the great thing about an album that's long is that you can skip the songs you dislike and still end up with a very solid 12-song record that you LOVE. i personally only dislike Not Dying Today, Maybe California, 500 Miles (which i HATE) and Ophelia. 17-4, that means i get 13 sonic orgasms whenever i pop this album, which is very frequently. all hail The Tori!

Tori's albums (especially the most recent ones) always take a few years before being fully accepted as masterpieces by her fanbase. However, I loved this one from the very first listen. Would not give "Not Dying Today" another chance, though. Feels more like safari than a song on a record with such name should.
