he didn’t dislike him, but he couldn’t deal with fatherhood and thus only met jeff once.

The single greatest to ever do it. When you get into his music, you get addicted to it, you experience every single bit from his best albums, listen to his demos, live albums and even bootlegs (the boboquivari is peak). From "Goodbye and Hello" to "Starsailor", his body of work is a crescendo with breathtraking boundaries pushed, not to mention his flawlessly expressive use of a angel like perfect voice. This man did everything, everything, all kinds of music for the time, from Folk to Avant Garde; all in all pure bliss.

possibly the only person one can confidently call the greatest singer/voice of all time

What if his whole career was about making it clear he couldn't be counted on taking any responsibility for Jeff?

i laughed at this but i really wish people would stop viewing one of the greatest artists of all time through the lens of his mediocre, albeit commercially viable son

Huh? What have Jeff done to you that makes you hate him so much? Let the dead man rest in peace, for God's sake. He was equally talented as much as his dad. I just don't get why fans of Tim hate Jeff or other way around...

his voice crosses the tandem between mystical and gleeful. this man– his songwriting, his technique, visuals, his devotion to what he did best: music. interchangeable of joy and tears, Tim manages to settle the listener; to focus on each one of his precise, endlessly talented abilities. marvelous, abrasive artist.

i'd honestly advise you to start chronologically, but Goodbye and Hello is a great start. it's a big leap from his self titled and his voice is immense in it. if you really wanna go through his evolution, follow by order of release. hope you enjoy his works as much as i do <3 happy listening!

I expected to come to this shoutbox and find intricate and insightful analysis of Tim Buckley's lyrics, vocal style and concepts but I've got this instead and I'm not unhappy...

Maybe someday people in general will understand, and appreciate as well, that this man did maybe more for the voice than what Hendrix did for the guitar, and that his contribution to expand the music boundaries through expression and experimentation was even way beyond that, alongside Parker and Coleman, singlehandedly setting a before-and-after in the history of music by tearing down the square concept of what 'song' and 'to sing' were supposed to be and the limited role of the voice in it, bringing back it's more primitive roots while merging the more dissimile and complex music genres as folk with jazz and avant-garde. Maybe someday.

я вообще очень thick skinned ко всяким там фолк-напевам, но Gypsy Woman делает мне так хорошо на душе, не передать
