The Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not Songfacts reports that when the Thompsons were putting together their self-titled debut album, the pair knew they had to include this song, even though they didn't write it. "The first time we heard it, we fell in love with it," Keifer explained to The Boot. "We knew we had to record it. It was semi-autobiographical. We just gravitated towards it. We were definitely blessed to get a hold of it."
