Weak human race will soon be just a memory. I put the daylight in eternal sleep. Now I enter your church. I see you hanged there. You followed me to my despair. Every second I must be with one of you.

My top-five most scrobbled 3EB songs of all-time are currently: "Anything", "How's It Going To Be", "Jumper", "1000 Julys", and "10 Days Late". What are yours?

Self titled got me through my freshman year of college. Mind you this was in 2009 but music like that is timeless...

Both of those albums are classics. I just saw them in Vegas on the 25th Anniversary tour of the self-titled album. That's crazy... a quarter of a century ago now and it's still a classic.

Once lead guitarist Kevin Cadogan was kicked out of the band they were done. Stephen Jenkins is an asshole.

it’s true though, it was a total dick move and remarkably stupid. like if marc almond had kicked david ball out of soft cell after “tainted love” took off. just goes to show jenkins saw everyone was fawning all over him and ignoring the other guy, who just happened to be the engine making everything go…not the brightest guy, that there jenkins

Wow, the new album is shockingly bland I really hope it's a grower, otherwise I've found the first 3eb album that I do not enjoy.

Hey, bud! I've actually never picked up that album again since that comment. Not sure if I should bother with it, as I feel it's a hopelessly crappy album.

"Box of Bones" is a good song, I'm excited for the new album! Can't understand why some people are saying it doesn't sound like old 3eb, though, since the band already hasn't been sounding like their former selves for years. Maybe they're just slow to catch up.

Life long 3EB fan here. Screamer seems to be another attempt by Stephan at hitting the mainstream. It has it's moments- with tracks like The Kids are Coming and Tropic Scorpio replicating Third Eye Blind at their power pop/rock best. But overall, it feels like a Stephan solo album, with no common sense holding him back from his worst tendencies. The album is littered with super-cringey lyrics and awfully transparent attempts at being "cool" again. Stephan needs to remember he's in his 50's now. He's not a "California rude boy" anymore.

Well said! Sadly, It's the 3eb we have, right now... And, most likely, the only one we will ever have from now on. Stephan's ego is too big to allow for anything else but this. The band is clearly not the same, with Stephan pulling even more strings, it's up to him to decide where this band is heading to. And I honestly don't like the direction he's taking it to. After a very unimpressive first listen, "Screamer" did grow on me a little bit, some kickass tunes in there, but also some of the worst I've ever heard from the band ("2X Tigers", I'm looking at you). All in all, I'm just glad that at least the one particular thing about 3eb that I've been enjoying for two decades is still there: their music still grows on you.

Whoa! A new album, just like this, out of nowhere? Or maybe I've just been away from all things 3eb... Anyway, I just heard the single "Screamer" and it's alright, they seem to be back in shape (I'm still trying to forget that God-awful covers album). Looking forward to listen to the leak tomorrow! Yes, guys, it just leaked. Go get it!

Well, "Screamer" is... OK. Just OK. For me, it's somewhat of a disappointment, since it was not the return to their former rock sound that I was expecting it to be (and which the single "Screamer" led me to believe it would be). I feel that 3eb as a rock band is something that definitely belongs in the past, by now. I've seen people comparing "Screamer" to "Blue", but I just can't hear the resemblance. The rock isn't there, anymore, and the melodies simply are not in tune with their music from that era. It feels more like a natural progression from "Dopamine", in the sense that they keep getting closer to a full pop sound with each of their releases. "Screamer" is, actually, their "poppiest" album to date. It's still a fun album to listen to, maybe it'll grow on me but, as of right now, it's their album I dislike the most.

I think Screamer is objectively bad. It does have a few tunes on it that bang. I think “Got so High” is fun and different but even that doesn’t reach its full potential. The rest of the album still has left almost no impression on me. I like the build up on Light It Up but that’s about it. Hate to be so bleak but it’s about a 5/10 for me. We’ll see if that changes over time. Which songs are you into?

Well, the "problem" with 3eb is that their stuff inevitably grows on you. I've been enjoying "Screamer" much more, now. Don't get me wrong, even while listening to the songs I enjoy the most, I still cannot shake off the feeling that I am listening to the band's most underachieving effort, so far. Also, the percentage of songs that do absolutely nothing for me is bigger in this album. That being said, I'm getting quite comfortably acquainted with "Ways", "Got So High", "Who Am I?", "Light it Up" and "Screamer". That last song gives me some strong early 3eb vibes, though I can't quite figure out why, but it's been my favourite from the new album precisely because of that. And Ido love getting jiggy with "Ways", that song is funky as hell!

Oh, and "The Kids Are Coming (To Take You Down)" is sorta good, it has an almost rocky vibe to it (well, as rocky as the band can get these days, anyway).

Growing up, Semi-Charmed was very little beyond a quirky pop hit to me. It floated around inside of a Napster folder while I graduated elementary school, and to this day I’m still a little sick of it. At some point my parents owned a copy of Blue that stayed in the family car, so I dismissed it as Mom Rock and left it at that. How wrong I was about this band though. Now, years later I find myself irritated by my own negligence – that S/T is a true gem. There really isn’t a single throwaway track on there, right? It’s bizarre to hear and appreciate something that so many people have been cherishing for over 2 decades. Blue is still chock-full of nostalgia, but a pretty infectious (and experimental) pop album, end to end. And I’m even having a lot of fun with OOTV. I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to uncover and admire some of these gems. Hearing the backend of the S/T for the first time – in 2019 – felt like listening to a classic. Arguably ahead of its time. /coolstory

I've actually never disliked anything this band released throughout the years, except for that EP. It's boring and it doesn't sound much like 3eb. "We Are Drugs" was great, though. Patiently waiting for some new original material from these guys...

I'm with you. Even though I ended up not enjoying some of their releases initially, they all grew on me rather quickly - especially "We Are Drugs." New original material = happy fans. You know what'd be even better? If the original crew got back tog- jk jk I'll stop myself right there.

Ahah! For a moment there I almost thought you were being serious about the original crew getting back together. I guess there's too much pride involved for we-know-who to even consider a reunion. He may be a dick, but he (still) writes good songs :)

They're covers & Kryz Reid is by far my least favorite guitar-player the band has ever had... so I can't appreciate it. Give me the latest Bosstones or Sevendust record....

Aw, you're too nice. But, man, that's half of 3eb's original line-up! Gotta check it out once I'm home, definitely. I hope they'll release an EP or something in any official way. Cheers for the enlightenment!

3eb's second best guitar player? Ahah! It's starting to sound more like a 3eb mock-up band than an actual genuine band. That's totally a band of 3eb rejects. But those are some good rejects, definitely worth checking out.

Sorry man I'm rambling haha. One more story. Only telling this story because it's relevant here, not trying to humble brag haha. Spotify does this fans first thing and one day I got this email that was like, "Stephan Jenkins of 3eb invites you to a private meet and greet and mini-concert at Spotify Headquarters in NYC" [where I live] and I was like wait, this isn't real. I signed up. Went. Got there. They invited 50 of the top 3eb listeners in NYC and only 15 people showed up. So no joke, it was me and 15 others + the Spotify team there waiting to hang out with Stephan. Dude shows up 30 minutes late. Brings out his guitar, talks up his new album while picking nonsense, plays only half of 3 songs, talks about how nervous he is and how that environment is so weird for him, and decides he's done. He gets up, walks around, talks to a few people (I got a few words in, because I've been a fan for X years), and he bounces. Stephan sucks, but you didn't need my story to confirm that.

I honestly wasn't aware things were bad to the point of interviews giving the feeling that a reunion of the original lineup is out of the question. Band reunions it's all the rage, these days. I mean, look at The Smashing Pumpkins, those guys were also allegedly so mad at Billy Corgan that it sounded like an impossible mission to get them all back together. Yet, they just did it (D'Arcy doesn't count, she's too fucked up because of drugs). I was hoping 3eb would eventually join the bandwagon and get the original lineup up and running. I guess Stephan must be a bigger asshole than Billy Corgan, then. I still enjoy current 3eb's music very much, but it's undeniable that their sound has lost something throughout the years (I'm not even able to see them as a rock band, anymore). Having the original 3eb members all back together would be magical, indeed. Maybe in another lifetime/dimension... *sigh*

I like the people on here... they seem to like truly get what a dilapidated mess this band is becoming... I thought through Dopamine they managed to maintain some semblance of professionalism & it could be the "XEB" effect kind of really swaying me in where all the talent associated with this band now lies... but what the band (calling themselves Third Eye Blind) is doing is starting to resemble sloppily made, piss-poor garbage. It's just the truth

Completely agree. Stephan and "his label" are just in this weird amorphous zone where he's like, "Let's make this and throw it out there for the world to digest." In theory, that's not bad. But he always functioned best as a perfectionist and took forever to release music. It's mostly piss-poor garbage.

Never heard the original by Babyshambles, but the only thing I was able to enjoy about "Fuck Forever" is that 3eb sound a bit "rockier" again. "Mine" is still their best cover to date, it's just soooo good that Beyoncé should do a cover of it.
