Biography

Originally a duo, Densil McFarlane and Colanthony Humphrey burst on to the scene with their unique “party punk” sound. With ambitions of making it big as a hip-hop group, the pair yearned to make music that would set them apart from the norm.

As time went on, their style began to evolve and the two began to venture into different genres. Inspired by the works of famous musicians such as Prince and Jimi Hendrix, Densil taught himself how to play the guitar and Cola began sharpen his drum chops.

In mid-2008, The OBGMs began performing around Toronto at various venues; including Sound Academy, El Mocambo, and The Rivoli, to name a few. After which, they released their very first EP “Interchorus” in 2009. With fast paced drumming, rugged guitar, and high-powered vocals, the duo became a force to be reckoned with.

After countless meetings and auditions, two new members were scouted to fulfill the vision. One day, as the duo leisurely conversed about an upcoming show, an eavesdropping bassist offered his services to the band. Enter: Joseph Brosnan, an enigmatic hipster of jam band roots that instantly fit in to cover the low end with tasteful flavor. With backgrounds in classical, gospel and jazz music, Jemuel Roberts added his colorful synth lines and powerful backup vocals into the mix. From that point on The oOohh Baby Gimme Mores were born.

The now completed four-piece continued their journey together, tearing up stages across the Greater Toronto Area. Playing events such as North By Northeast, Bookie's Nu Music Nite and Canadian Music Week, The oOohh Baby Gimme Mores have shared the stage with artists such as Saul Williams, Janelle Monae and Kathryn Calder of The New Pornographers.

Currently in the studio, The OBGMS plan to release their yet-to-be-titled, full length EP sometime in the summer of 2012. Feeding off pure energy and oozing with infectious drums and catchy synth lines: The oOohh Baby Gimme Mores are truly harbingers of the dance party groove.
