Sorry if I went a tad too far. I just expressed my preference for Quadrophenia over Who's Next in a (failed) comedic manner.

Album deserves a movie adaptation in the same vein as The Wall or Tommy. Existing movie adaptation is devoid of the same depth and emotional outcry the album has. Great record.

Disagree that the movie lacked emotional depth, but I will say it would be cool for a movie re-adaptation that Pete wrote the entire screenplay for - thus fully realizing what the album's story couldn't. (The visual element would certainly help Americans understand the scenes of the second half of the album, which the movie rushed through a bit too quickly imo.)

The booklet that comes with the album with the black and white photography by Ethan Russell has a more cinematic quality

My favorite Who album. One killer song after another, culminating in the stunning "Love, Reign O'er Me." Rock rarely gets better than this.

For several years after I became a Who fan I didn't give this album the credit that it deserves and after becoming familiar with it played it only rarely, opting instead for Who's Next, The Who Sell Out, Tommy, Live at Leeds, etc. Something brought me back, though, and I now recognize it as perhaps The Who's greatest achievement and one of the 5 or 10 best albums of the 70s. Just a beautifully written, wonderfully played, emotionally resonant masterpiece. This record and the aforementioned other classics in their repertoire (along with the awesome singles from Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy) are evidence of the group's superiority to The Rolling Stones and Beatles. In particular neither of those bands could've pulled off Quadrophenia.

After giving this a lot of thought (and plays) and seeing the brilliant movie, I've come to the realization that this is my favorite Who album. Also, I got the vinyl for a bargain (the best I ever had).

Insanely good. A masterpiece of prog rock (and yes, it's totally prog, even moreso than The Lamb for instance)

There isn't another album that had so much impact in my life as Quadrophenia. Maybe it's just me, but I think Jimmy's story is almost universal. Everybody has passed at least one moment in life that is described on this album. Also, the composition, the lyrics, the playing of the four guys that bring this to life. Pete, every song you write is something unique and majestic, but with this album you surpassed yourself, and the rest of mankind.
