they could've been big but The National stole their target demographic (adults who get sad while drinking expensive wine)

I think their big issue was just coming up during the early days of piracy/ torrenting and internet discovery (like The Strokes). They were great live, and some of their early albums are just as relevant today as they were then.

I was just searching for something sad but more rock-y - not the emo/indie I've been listening to for the past 6 years -, and spotify recommended me this after Pavement. Pretty fine, though.

I only knew these guys previously from The Rat. I had no idea they had a much fuller sound on their other stuff (not that The Rat isn't great). I had just took them to be straight up post-punk revival. I'm pleasantly surprised. Decided to give them a listen after hearing the Rostam album.

You & Me is their best album. I'm not sure what I'd pick after that. Maybe Bows or Heaven.

They seemed to have a much more unique sound with their early work. Their later stuff sounds very similar to each other to me.

Sad that I missed out on these guys while they were together. Indie rock perfection.

Heaven reminds me of lazy summer days skateboarding and beers stolen from parents. The sound of youth!
