Biography

The Villeins are a 5 piece Indie Band from Newcastle. Formed in early 2007, they have gone from strength to strength playing around Newcastle in a number of different gigs and venues, supporting the likes of Rick Witter & The Dukes, The Parlotones, and Van Daniels with Chris Helme (Ex-Seahorses) on the way.

2009 will see The Villeins getting out of Newcastle and playing in various cities around the UK.

They recently appeared in NME as one of their Breaking Bands, this is what they had to say…

" … you should check out Newcastle's The Villeins. Their heavy post punk couldn't be more gloomily euphoric if it was overdosing in a gutter. Their Muscular dirge rattles about like a skull beneath a cosh - it's both dark and enlightening. "

NME Review 2:

The sound of this Newcastle 5-piece seems to be pretty varied, but 'The City' is their most exciting track. Lyrically, it's The Jam gone epic. Musically, it's a slice of post-punk of prog-ish proportions, with tight drumming, warped, angular guitars and a distorted shout of a vocal – it's a breakneck 7 and a half minute ride and one that shows off the band's potential admirably. If they can continue to produce tunes of this calibre, then they should be breaking out of Newcastle by the end of the year.
