Biography

The Polar Bear Project, a four-member electronic pop collective from the Midwestern U.S., sent shockwaves through the indiepop community with their incomparable, genre-busting combination of the psychedelic exploration of the 60's and 70's and the new wave and synthpop sounds of the 80's and 90's.

Recording their debut EP in 2006 at empresAudio, pBp missed no opportunity to bring their act to stages on the local and regional level, putting on high-energy shows at venerable clubs around the midwest. Two self-released singles, “Procrastination Way” and “Cracked the Code,” earned the Polar Bear Project their reputation as “dreamy, Death Cab for Cutie-esque rockers”(Annie Zaleski, music ed. - RFT), and provided some momentum for the band. Both recordings were featured on local, national, and international radio feeds, including spins on 101.1FM The River’s Homegrown Show in St. Louis.

Fronted by the well-balanced melodies of vocalist / bass guitarist Jason Hodge and vocalist Susan Muth, along with guitarist Mike Braeuninger and Ted Spies (keys / synths / programming / vocals), the Polar Bear Project served up a “chilling flow of guitars and keys, and digital groove”(Pascal Gregory, ed. - IOMM) – creating unrelenting melodic hooks and leaving pleasant daydreams for the populace. should appeal to fans of the postal service, death cab for cutie, and the sea and cake.
