Still my favorite TPOBPAH, and it's weird to see complaints that it sounds like MBV – like that's a bad thing! Anyway, there's a rawness and a naivety to these songs that I don't hear in much MBV. Don't get me wrong: I'm not trying to deny MBV's influence, but this album has such a different mood!

This is pretty forgettable compared to Belong. I like it, but it does get boring in places.

Despite this being a pretty clear sarah records/early slr + mbv clone, I still really enjoy it. Fuzzy pop tunes done right.

you know...I don't know about this album....I kinda think it is overrated. I mean, yaaay they captured 1987 Ecstacy and Wine MBV more than Fleeting Joys did for Loveless. I don't know..perhaps I just like the darker side of American Post Shoegaze Blissrock. I think it just perpetuates a sort of generic type of influence coming out of this country.

how about this: i adore lots of shoegaze, i never got into jesus & mary chain, but i appreciate this... and i can't see a strong connection between these two bands... the pains of being pure at heart doesn't feel like shoegaze at all in my opinion... they sound much more like unpretentious, quite intelligent (indie)pop to me...
