Biography

The Man I Fell In Love With was a // band from Kent, OH, active from 1994 to 1997 or 98.

Half of the quasi-legendary The Party of Helicopters make up two-thirds of this refreshingly beautiful and forcibly aimed project, sounding somewhat like a condensation of the dreamier elements of their full-time work interspersed with heavier levels of shoegazing and drone. The abstract looming sounds of churning guitars, moaning vocals, and perfectly subtle keys create some of the best spacy rock music to have been put together since the days of Slowdive and/or Hum. Their only full-length release, Dis Yourself establishes the band as a tightly knit and deeply fathomed creation, but they have yet to be noticed by more than a few.

During their short lifespan, TMIFILW released a Demo cassette (1994, Self-Released, extremely limited), a split 7" with noah (1995, …And Then The Bear Left Records/Donut Friends, limited to 250), a Self-Titled 7" (1996, Donut Friends) and a full length CD/12", entitled Dis Yourself Dis yourself was released on Vinyl by Donut Friends and on CD by Keystone-Ember. They also had a song from their demo on a compilation 12" entitled Board Games to Keep Your Mind Off the Punk Rock Struggle (1994, Donut Friends).
