This album is a MASTERPIECE; a concept religious album, which I explain on the 50th edition https://www.last.fm/music/Jimi+Hendrix/Electric+Ladyland+-+50th+Anniversary+Deluxe+Edition)

The naked ladies is NOT the ORIGINAL cover, as some people suggest. It's the UK cover version released by Track Records. The cover Jimi wanted for the album was this photo by Linda Eastman: https://i0.wp.com/www.theartsshelf.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Hendrix_ElectricLady50_cover-Medium.jpg

Personally, I don't see how anyone can say that Hendrix was overrated/over-hyped after listening to this album. Sure he may have albums that are better showcases of his guitar playing. (except " Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" which may be the single greatest thing ever done on the electric guitar), but as a songwriter he is on peak form here. "1983" would have to be my favorite Hendrix track ever (once had an almost spiritual experience listening to it by the ocean.) This is his greatest artistic achievement, IMO.

Why are songs from this album being separated into two albums? They all have the same names and pictures. Annoying..

But. MisterJunior. Axis:Bold as Love had 'Little Miss Lover' on it. To be fair Electric Ladyland is a double album which is basically code for 'inconsistent' very few doubles are quality from start to finish.

My thoughts have changed recently. I'm keeping my old comment up rather than deleting it just as a record of my thoughts on the matter, but as you can see in my reply to my own comment I'm of a different mindset now.

I may take some flak for this, but this one is my least favorite of the three Experience albums. It has some of Jimi's absolute best material, but it also has several songs I just don't care for at all. Are You Experienced and Axis: Bold as Love, meanwhile, are terrific from start to finish. Gotta go with the consistently great over the intermittently godlike.

Alright, so I've been listening to Hendrix a lot again over the course of the past few months after taking a break for a while, and I've reassessed my thoughts on him -- this one in particular. I now feel it could quite logically be considered his best record and maybe even my favorite from him, because it's so unconventional and it has all these amazing jams and Jimi's playing is at its wildest on record. Aside from some of the posthumous releases, this is the only place you can really hear Jimi cutting totally loose in the studio, and he does it on numerous tracks here. There are some great songs to go along with the titanic jams and there's also some neat studio experimentation. I think previously I was hung up on "songs" rather than the quality of the playing. I've been listening to tons of Jazz (and Baroque/Classical/Romantic music) during this time as well, and I think it's caused me to better appreciate this album. Long story short, all of the Experience's albums rule.

I've been on a pretty big Hendrix kick lately (mostly involving this album and his posthumous/post-Experience stuff), and for the first time in my life I think I might agree. I've always gravitated toward Axis: Bold as Love but lately I'm really loving the combination of towering jams/great psych-pop songs/studio experiments on this one. Definitely a legendary record and one I'm going to keep spending time with.

Jimi would be rolling in his grave if he knew that the naked ladies cover was the top cover on here. Please vote the correct cover up.

The 'correct'(or originaly idealized by Jimi) cover photography was never been taken. Doesn't exist the 'right' cover for this album, but the naked ladies is the original release cover.

One of the greatest musical achievements of the 20th century[2] - or ANY century, for that matter.

The UK cover is a lame joke & gimmicky while the US cover looks contemporary & makes Jimi Hendrix appear like a deity (which of course he is, to guitarists at least).
