Biography
Copied from MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/thehorsiestexas:
The Horsies are a band who had their heyday in the early to late 90s, but still get together every few years to play a show or two, and maybe write a new song. this could go on forever, or at least until they no longer have control of their bodily functions. the band formed in the winter of 1991/92, when, to make a long story short, 3 members of Joan of Arkansas joined forces with two members of Happy Family, along with one Muleskinner, to form a band with the intention of making people dance. many crowded sweaty shows at the Electric Lounge, Hole in the Wall, and the Outhouse followed. people actually were dancing! weird, because the bandmembers had previously only been in bands to which people either slamdanced, shoegazed, or drank and heckled. or all of those. does that make sense? here are a few of the bands in which various Horsies had or have since been members (i warn you this list is neither complete nor chronological): Chlorine/ 99 and the One/ Poison 13/ Ballad Shambles/ Happy Family/ Happy Death/ Pocket Fishrmen/ Joan of Arkansas/ Glass Eye/ The Meat Purveyors/ Big Foot Chester/ Slang Drill/ Cat Scientist/ The Muleskinners/ Shockhead/ Hand of Glory.
Here's the lineup:
julia austin–clarinet and singing// sheri lane–keyboard and accordion and singing// kristy knight–percussion and singing// brant bingamon–bass and singing// rich malley–drums and singing// bill anderson–guitar and maybe a little singing/ allan gill–soundman forever
