I wish they'd do another record. And if they won't, I wish someone else would triumphantly combine cheeseball guitar harmonies and math-rock as good as they did. Whenever I rummage the 'similar artists' there is just nothing quite like them.

https://www.last.fm/music/Double+Ferrari Double Ferrari from Athens, GA. Engineered by Tim Green at Louder. This gets pretty close to the Champs sound.

I've been meaning to check them out for years. I started off with Greatest Hits. They're actually quite enjoyable. I was aware of them through the Metal Archives. Good heavy metal!

According to their Wikipedia they 'were' a three piece band and aren't one anymore. Also their website isn't updated, in fact it's 2008, so it's not exactly looking like 'VII' will be.

I wanna see a fucking champs music video in the collage style of BlackDice, that is just a montage of 80's wrestlers doing body slams.

What the hell are you talking about, 'are they seriously meant to sound good'? It's music, I don't think they made it to 'sound like complete shit'. It's not a joke, it's just the way they choose to sound. Maybe a little 'tongue in cheek' but they obviously love/know metal.

I don't get it. Are they just a gimmick/joke or are they seriously meant to sound good? This sounds like soundtrack music to an 80's action movie fight scene.

there's nothing pitchfork about mountains of riffs. the band's so-called adventure music is the complete opposite what the asswanks at pitchfork indulge in.
