Masterpiece. Maddeningly catchy, with those incredible drums and one of the definitive rants by MES.

"When Peel had first heard the track – in a session the band recorded in March, 1983 – he stated on air that he had fainted and his producer, John Walters, had had to resuscitate him."

If you have never chimed in "EAT Y'SELF FITTER!" while listening to this song, you officially have no soul.

John Peel supposedly passed out when he first heard the Peel session version of this song. I can't blame him.

NEWSFLASH. I think this is referencing early kellogs advertising: 'eat yourself fitter, not fatter', which in my mind at least sums up the nonsensicalness of advertising and consumerism. early supermarket foods sold cheap produce at high prices through the power of branding, selling us stuff we didn't need, cereals that gave less nutrition than the cardboard box (I haven't heard anyone else make a similar point, think Mark E's lyrics are engrossing)
