Going to agree with chrisrazor down there and say Extricate is my second favourite behind Bend Sinister...except in my case third place has to be Perverted by Language.

The Fall's "breakup album." Lots of these songs seem to be addressing Brix. Weirdly, the one that would seem to be most pointedly addressing her is a Monks cover.

Hmm, expected to find this page full of shouts about how this is the best Fall album, or at least a debate about it. Maybe I should start one: Extricate is the best Fall album after Bend Sinister and before The Unutterable - discuss!

Fantastic LP, the return of Martin Bramah being a major factor (even if it didn't last..plus ca change) and made up somewhat for Brix's exit. Way better than 'Frenz' and 'Oranj'. Shift Work was very good too. Bend Sinister Is my favourite Fall LP too by the way. I liked them as an eleven year-old kid listening to Peel under my bedclothes in 1978, but it was Bend Sinister that brought me back in a big way. I love the use of violin and electronics on Extricate, and the production is spot on. Really controlled, malicious vocals from MES....and extra points for mentioning Gretchen Franklin haha.

I must've been in a very "modern Fall" mood when I wrote that, because I don't think Unutterable would make my top five now. Can't really beat Hex and PbL. Extricate is very, very good though.
