This is an Elliott Smith cover. It's good, but it's not the Clementine version from Cast Aways and Cutouts.

Huh, different version. I like the album one better, but this is pretty neat :)

Original is better (faster pacing), but still -- favorite band A + song I love + by favorite band B = giddiness.

in this ditty, the author (not God, per se, but the songwriter - shoving forcably aside queries on vatic voice) muses on the dilemma of time and no time, never enough though it lies about in piles (unless I'm lying), no heaps, several out back, more on my hands than I know what to do with. Maybe I should attempt to extract pickle sunbeams, again. No, last time what a dreadful mess. As tears, so years.

I'm afraid this is the song on To:Elliott From:Portland I routinely skip. Although I do love the original and the Decemberists. This version is just such a dirge - the tempo is so slow uneven I keep thinking it's going to peter out - the original was 2:46 and this takes 4:25! >>|

I'm with you kirbychrome, I am definitely not into Elliot Smith. Something about his music turns me off. It's too, um......., dull, I guess.

Elliot Smith sang a song about Clementine. Colin Meloy is singing a song about Elliot Smith singing a song about Clementine.

Looks like I'm on my own here but I can't really go with the post-death hyperbole on this one. Personally I find Smith to be a better writer than a performer. A little too meek for my liking. I saw him live supporting the Figure 8 album and it was a disappointment to say the least. Each to their own though.
