The Age of Plastic is the debut studio album of synthpop/New Wave group The Buggles. It is a concept album having themes of intense nostalgia and anxiety about the possible effects of modern technology. With the album recorded and mixed at Virgin's Town House and Sarm East Studios, it was released by Island Records in 1980.
One of its hit singles, "Video Killed the Radio Star", has the distinction of being the first video ever played on MTV, immortalizing Trevor Horn and Geoff Downes, who went on to become top producers. Arguably the most notable album the duo worked on together was Drama, by Yes, replacing the (temporarily) departing Rick Wakeman and John Anderson.
