an exquisite song to have in the background, at low volume like an old radio, for a lazy morning in bed

I know Paul hated it, but I think that from all the Let It Be songs this one lends itself the best for the orchestral wall of sound approach by Phil Spector

I'm glad to say that Spector made a wonderful job with this track. His version gives me chills, with its magnificent crescendo.

Apparently Spector took the original eight track tapes and bounced the Beatles performances onto just two tracks, leaving six for all the overdubs. Insane way of working.

pretty sure that’s how the beatles made sergeant pepper too. it was a common production approach at the time

with all due respect to the naysayers (and paul), i'm grateful we got a phil spector ballad from the beatles on their way out the door. "let it be" was the perfect swansong and "winding road" was the perfect post-breakup rearview

if there's anything i regret, it's that they put "for you blue" on the flip. a nice tune, but hardly worthy of the occasion...the fact that they wanted to give george the last b-side makes it all the more regrettable that they didn't finish "all things must pass" during those sessions

The orchestral/choral swell at around 2:26 is like that feeling when you're becoming overwhelmed with emotion...and you finally just let loose and cry. Screw the haters, this song is beautiful!

I'm so glad I went to Stonehenge with uuuia and risebo but she moaned the whole time to my poor uuuia and I squeezed her

Can't agree. I think it's one of the best songs Paul McCartney wrote for The Beatles.
