This song always makes me emotional because my dad used to play it for me when I was a little girl. Such a beautiful song. Paul’s vocals are incredible here too.

The Beatles (specifically Paul McCartney) invented the death-metal growl. Who knew?

One of the few instances where I can tolerate string arrangements in my rock music... actually, most of those moments are in Beatles songs... 'cause the songwriting is undeniable, dammit.

0:42 is undoubtedly the best moment of anything. I get goosebumps every single time.

According to Mark Lewisohn's The Beatles Recording Sessions, McCartney recorded this song on July 2, 1969, a day after Lennon suffered injuries from a car accident in Scotland that left him in a hospital until July 6th. So Lennon did not perform on this song. George Harrison played bass guitar as Paul was playing piano. http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=204

this will always make me a little sad. it reminds me of the last time I saw someone I was very close to, years ago.

Somehow, these dudes were just never as good separately. Competition has done awful things to humanity, but I think it was good for The Beatles.

i listened to this as a very, very young child. i had forgotten about it, since i was so little and i didn't know at the time how amazing it was. it wasn't until i was in 9th grade -- when i became absolutely obsessed with the beatles -- that i heard this song again. and suddenly i was crying. this song soothed me to sleep as a child. it is invaluable to me.
