I know this feels so overplayed and all the rest of it but honestly... these are some of the mos t beautifully arranged, impeccably performed vocal harmonies I've ever heard. About 75% of the song is just one simple repeated melody, over and over, with different harmonies, and it still somehow sounds amazing... the emotion in those final choruses is just colossal.

In 1986, Prince invited the little-known Bangles to record his song, "Manic Monday." It propelled the LA band to stardom, but it was only a stepping stone for guitarist, Susanna Hoffs, who, two years later, would write The Bangles' most enduring song, "Eternal Flame." Hoffs takes Songfacts behind the scenes of what was, in effect, The Bangles' epitaph - from writing the lyrics with Billy Steinberg, to recording them...in the nude! - http://www.songfacts.com/blog/playingmysong/susanna_hoffs_-_eternal_flame_/

I don't care how cool you are, how hip and alternative. If you do not love this song, then you are dead to me.
