There are at least six artists with the name, or that once were named, The Academy:
1) The Academy is a large group of MCs assembled by rapper Kurupt, in 2011, for an eponymous compilation. Artists who collaborate on the album are: 60 Second Assassin, Agallah, Big Lou, Billy Danze of M.O.P., Born Sun, Bronze Nazareth, Canibus, Chino XL, Chopp Devize, Copywrite, Crooked I, DJ Absurd, Dzk, El Da Sensai, Goldie, Hell Razah, Illah Ghee, Jadakiss, Jaecyn Bayne, Keith Murray, Kevlaar 7, Killah Priest, Kojoe, K-Solo, La The Darkman, Labba, Math Hoffa, M-Eighty, Matilda, Method Man, Pacewon, Pack FM, Pete Rock, Phillie, Planet Asia, Prodigal Sunn, Raekwon, Ras Kass, Redman, Reef The Lost Cauze, Rock of Heltah Skeltah, Royce Da 5’9”, Ruste Juxx, Rusty Redenbacher of The Mudkids, Sav Killz, Sean Price, Son One, Stack-A-Dolla, Styles P, Timbo King, Tri-State & Udi - aswell as Kurupt himself.
2) The Academy is a Swedish band whom are influenced by all kinds of music, from Dave Matthews Band and Red Hot Chili Peppers to R.E.M., Coldplay and Radiohead. -The Academy play music often classed as melodic-dynamic pop-rock.
3) The Academy is a DCI Division II junior drum corps based in Tempe, Arizona that operates under the umbrella of the Arizona Academy for the Performing Arts.The Academy was originally formed in 2000 as the Arizona Academy Summer Brass and Percussion ensemble. The corps became competitive in 2004, changing their name to The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps. The Corps' first national tour occurred in 2006. With their first ever finals performance they won the Division II title.In the words of corps director Mark Richardson, “Imagine a group whose entire membership is focused, passionate, driven, full of desire to achieve, has the will to push through difficult mental and physical stresses, and is not afraid to succeed.”
4) The Academy were a UK based 3 piece band. They have now recently changed their name to Elliot Minor and have 2 new members.
5) The Academy is a Swedish band who's "Teaching the world how to funk".
5) The Academy is an American band formed in Bloomington around 1995. They released a self-titled album in 2000 on Flat Earth. They were originally called Smart Milk, and members have gone on to be involved in other projects, perhaps most notably, Margot & the Nuclear So and So's.
7) "The Academy is" is a band from the suburbs of Chicago. The lead singer was formerly Remember Maine, a solo, acoustic act. The band started off playing with such bands as Fall Out Boy, August Premier, 504 Plan, and October Fall. They were quickly signed by Fueled by Ramen. This band, however, no longer goes by this name and is now called The Academy Is…
8) "The Academy" is a group from Milton Academy in Milton, MA. They have one album, Esoteric Design, which came out in August of 2010.
