Sir Terence David John "Terry" Pratchett, OBE (28 April 1948 – 12 March 2015) was an English fantasy author, best known for his Discworld series. Pratchett, with more than 85 million books sold worldwide in 37 languages, was the UK's best-selling author of the 1990s. He is also generally regarded as one of the finest satirists currently writing in the English language, and has been compared to such diverse figures as Douglas Adams, Jonathan Swift, Charles Dickens, Lewis Carroll, Evelyn Waugh and P. G. Wodehouse.
