Heard the title track of this at a restaurant once. Thought it had to be a modern band. I was absolutely shocked when I learned it was from '77! Very timeless sound to me. Really dig the title track so I'm giving these guys a deep dive.

i would give this a perfect score if it didn't fall of so quickly after the title track

nevermind. "Guiding Light" is very pretty and "Prove It" may be the weakest but it's certainly not bad. this is pretty much perfect. a year and a half after i first enjoyed the album

Fantastic album. I don't listen to Television all that often, but I sort of prefer it that way. I've been listening to this record for about 20 years now and I come back to it at least a couple/few times a year and every time I do I'm just blown away by the overall sound of it... the fabulous, serpentine interplay of the two guitars, the flat wooden sound of the drums, Verlaine's unusual voice and poetic lyrics ("Venus" is one of my favorite songs of all time from a lyrical perspective; I've seen it described as "goofy" but to me the sentiment of falling into the non-existent arms of the Venus de Milo is indescribably sad and beautiful)... it's just fantastic. The small amount of other material they released is also very good, but it's this album that just wows me. I do think The Blow-Up and the more recent -- and unfortunately truncated -- Live at the Waldorf are great live albums and would be interested in hearing more live stuff from them.
