The song began life as a demo keyboardist Ian Stanley put together while Roland and Curt were promoting The Hurting.
He, as he put it himself. 'started messing around with drum machines and stuff'. When Roland and Curt returned he suggested it to them.
Roland decided to use the demo for the quiet part of the song, only adding a melody for Curt's vocals.
As many songs at that time, he took it from there.
The Spanish chanting, which takes up the second part of the song, is: 'Cumple años chica no hay preocuparse', which translates to: 'Grow older girl, you don't have to worry (about it).
