A new album is on the way. "Split between Tchornobog and Abyssal (UK) to be out next year. Two songs. 23+ minutes each. Over 5 years in the making".

There is a definite The Ruins of Beverast presence throughout the album and it is a benevolent one. However, I find the album inconsistent, which is best illustrated by the third track example. There is a brooding introductory which transits seamlessly into a more loungy saxophone flavoured fragment. Next comes The Ruins of Beverast influenced, nevertheless light hearted piece with shoegaze sensibility. After a one-word sample short-lived metal component starts to wane while the dreamy mood persists, presenting us an ending full of longing suitable for a post-rock composition. A longer spoken-word sample concludes the track. Soroka exhibits a wide range of influences on this album, and his considerable skill both as a composer and musician, but I cannot go over the feeling he wanted to cram too much into Tchornobog. P.S. Don't you think the Stalker sample doesn't fit such an album? It conflicts with the themes suggested by the track titles and extreme metal aesthetic in general.

Dunno my friend. These tracks do not seem "crammed' to me. Remains one of the top releases for me this year so you can say we respectfully disagree. You may have a point regarding the Stalker sample which closes out the album. Does seem a bit 'glued on'. If you've had a chance to listen to Drudkh's recent EP, the track All Shades Of Silence has great ambient interlude which to me is very fitting to a Stalker soundtrack. Give it a listen if you get the opportunity.
