Would have been better if Stephen Richards would have just released it as a solo album.

I think the composition was actually pretty good, the main problem is the production. It has good ideas, but the production is holding it down so much (and I say this as someone who doesn't really give a fuck about production too much. I'm a big fan of Rabbit Junk), they're going for a djenty sound but the mixing is REALLY muddy and it's just not very good.

Can we please all agree that "Poem" is probably one of the worst songs of all time? I love Taproot, I really do, but "Poem" just ain't it.

i like taproot because they're like the failsons of nu-metal, which says a lot since nu-metal is the ultimate failson genre

So "Gift" they could barely put together an intelligible song... "Welcome" had like 5 cool tracks... "Blue-Sky Research" was where they peaked, imo...

Not if you like intelligent songwriting & actual memorable hooks. Gift is incredibly shitty & you can tell it was a record made by extremely young musicians who really weren't seasoned at all

I hate Soundgarden, think Alice in Chains are one of the most overrated bands in the history of music... Lamb of God aren't shit compared to Pantera... so we're probably not going to find much agreement. Do you play an instrument?

I bought "Blue Sky Research" for $1.50 at FYE last week & now I purchased "Welcome" for $3.50... They're good, I like them more than 40 Below Summer, Earshot or Nonpoint

His vocals vary. demos and Gift are really rough because of his vocal styles there, but Plead the Fifth and Blue-Sky Research are great vocally, with some highlights on Welcome. He always seems to fall back on Gift stuff live though, not sure why that is...maybe if they re-recorded that album with the vocals mentioned on Blue-Sky Research alongside the screams, the baritone guitar riffs on that album rock.

...Plead the Fifth is actually just as awesome. I partially retract my previous shout.

Not sure what changed, but they jut forgot how to write a memorable song ~85% of the time after Blue Sky Research. prefer the newer vocals, prefer the older instrumentation. Means Blue Sky Research will always be their best album to me likely.

Taproot are still one if the best bands around. Always underrated & under appreciated. I never really thought of them as by metal especially after Gift but if u have to class them as that, then they are one of the most dynamic bands of that genre. So insanely good. So Eager is my fave song. The newer albums are Definately ones that rake multiple listens to appreciate but so worth it. Plead The Fifth is crazy good.
