“Lost In Yesterday” is the fourth single from Tame Impala’s fourth studio album "The Slow Rush". The song features Kevin singing about nostalgia, and letting things go from the past that can be haunting to people. He wants listeners to take bad memories and “lose them in yesterday,” leaving them behind by coming to terms with them.

The track was first announced by Kevin in a post featuring the single’s official artwork on the act’s official Instagram page on January 1, 2020. He also revealed that the track would come in the week following the post.

Before its official announcement, however, the track started appearing on streaming services as an unavailable track. This revealed that it would appear as the eighth track on the record.

"Nostalgia is a drug, to which some are addicted." - via Apple Music

"It is about nostalgia as a drug, to which we are all addicted. It is about over-romanticizing the past and also the opposite, being consumed by regrets and what you should have done differently. Anything that happened a long time ago, all of our memories always seems to become stronger the longer it has been since it’s happened."

– Kevin Parker, Triple J
