This song uses a spoken word recording taken by Jarboe’s father, who was an FBI agent. The speaker on the tape is a criminal, who is aware he is being recorded. The man taunts the people recording him, saying that they are sicker than he is for making it their job to follow and document his ‘crimes’, and that their careers are dependent on people like him committing crimes, and thus are reliant on him.
An alternate interpretation of this speech can involve living with a mental or physical disability, as the speaker describes situations in which a person needs assistance to finish everyday tasks. Coping with disabilities such as blindness is a recurring theme on the album.
