If Big Black had Cyclothymia, it would sound like this album. It has that mushroom cloud heaviness that you get from the likes of “Cop”…but it doesn’t lumber around with that heavy atmosphere, instead it dances around in a paranoid fever. This album and the self titled EP are like their own world in the Swans universe. Heavy but not yet burdened by the weight of it.

i can't figure out how they get that one incredible drum sound where it sounds like a trash can being shot by a bb gun or a haunted washing machine

While it honestly loses some steam way too quickly (the fact I have yet to see anyone not consider Stay Here the best song here says it all), it's got the perfect balance of groovy and hateful that few of their other no wave era releases have, the exceptions IMO being Young God and Body To Body. Not as brutally abrasive as Cop or Public Castration, but definitely their most enjoyable outside that specific context.
